We're committed to maintaining a safe environment for all passengers who travel through Winnipeg Richardson International Airport.
Our emergency response service operates around the clock to respond to airport emergencies and provide a safe environment for travellers, employees, and the public.
All emergency personnel are trained to meet Transport Canada regulatory requirements. They work closely with internal and external stakeholders to address and prevent emergencies that may arise at the airport.
Three-minute response
Based on the airfield, our emergency response team is situated to respond to critical areas within the regulatory window of three minutes.
The department has three aircraft rescue firefighting trucks, made by Oshkosh Airport Products. These vehicles are designed to offer a comprehensive approach to target aircraft firefighting needs in the event of an emergency. Each truck is equipped with three different firefighting agents including aqueous film-forming foam, water, and an auxiliary extinguishing agent.
