Media access

Public area media access policy

Media representatives are permitted to record video, take photos and conduct interviews in public, non-restricted areas, as long as it does not block or restrict airport flow or the movement of travellers and airport staff. Please note: it is imperative all emergency fire exits and escape routes remain clear at all times.

Restricted area media access policy

Access to any restricted area at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport, including the Terminal Building and airfield, is subject to Transport Canada Security measures. Media representatives wishing to record video, take photos or conduct interviews post-security will only be able to do so with permission from Winnipeg Airports Authority's Communications Department, and will be subject to normal security screening procedures. Requests must be made in advance by phoning the 24-Hour Media Line at 204-992-2791.

Media parking

When covering a news story at the airport, media can park in the Parkade across from the terminal. As a courtesy, WAA will provide free parking for media covering a news story involving the airport.

During regular working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), please contact the 24-Hour Media Line at 204-992-2791 for a representative to provide you with a validated parking pass. Outside of these hours, please see the Information Booth on Arrivals Level 1 for parking validation.

Media should refrain from parking curbside on Departures Level 2 or Arrivals Level 1. Vehicles parked at the curb are subject to towing at the owner's expense.

Commercial filming

Commercial filming permission must be obtained from WAA prior to any on-site filming. Commercial filming includes feature films, documentaries, television series, commercials, photographs and general entertainment programs. All requests may be subject to fees and license requirements. Requests for commercial filming can be sent by email to [email protected]
