Interesting facts

Initially meant for special occasions, the Hug Rug quickly became a beloved feature that was here to stay at the airport for families and loved ones to have a special spot to reconnect.
  • In 2019, Runway 13/31 (one of two runways at the airport) underwent an extensive rehabilitation to allow for significant pavement repairs and drainage restoration work to be done. This resulted in a fully operational and improved runway to use over the next 12-15 years.
  • Our busiest days are after Christmas on December 27 and 28. In recent years apart from 2020, we've see approximately 30,000 travellers through our doors on these two days combined.
